Walk. Talk. Break the Stigma.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Day – June 13 in Chestermere

It’s time to lace up your sneakers and show up for something that matters.

On Thursday, June 13, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Chestermere Community Services is inviting the community to gather at John Peake Park for Men’s Mental Health Awareness Day – Walk & Talk. This isn’t just another stroll by the lake (though the view is pretty great). It’s a chance to start real conversations, raise awareness, and support the men in our lives, fathers, brothers, partners, sons, friends, who may be quietly struggling.

After the walk, head over to the Gazebo for snacks, refreshments, and four interactive mental wellness stations, each designed to spark real conversations and share practical tools:

Stress Toolbox Station: Try out simple techniques like deep breathing, grounding exercises, and muscle relaxation. Think of it as a mental first-aid kit you can actually use.

Myths About Masculinity Station: Contribute to a community board that calls out damaging stereotypes and talks about how they’ve shaped men’s mental health, for better or worse.

Check-In Station: Not sure how to ask “Are you okay?” without making it awkward? Learn useful prompts and practise ways to check in with others (and yourself).

Resiliency Mapping Station: Share stories and strategies that helped you through hard times. Reflect, connect, and map out what resilience looks like in real life.

You’ll also find a few friendly faces from Men’s Shed, who’ll be there to chat and share how they’re building community, connection, and purpose, one project at a time.

This event is open to everyone: men, women, youth, allies, families, and friends. The more we show up, the louder the message: men’s mental health matters.
