Light the Lake: Let’s Make Chestermere Shine!

It’s (almost) that time again — when Chestermere lights up the night with a little friendly holiday competition and a whole lot of community spirit.
Whether your style is twinkling elegance, inflatable chaos, or full-on Griswold glory, it’s time to start planning your display for this year’s Light the Lake Holiday Lights Contest.
Why join?
Get your home featured on our interactive holiday lights map, a favourite for local families touring the best neighbourhood displays.
Compete for prizes and trophies across four fun categories.
Or, if competition’s not your thing, just add your house to the map to spread some cheer!
Dates:
Entries accepted: December 1–12, 2025
Committee judging: December 13, 2025 (lights on by 6:00 p.m.)
Public voting: December 13–15, 2025
Categories:
Best Overall: This category celebrates the display that truly captures the spirit of the season. Judges will be looking for creativity, effort, and overall visual impact.
Best Use of Lights: This one’s all about illumination! Entries should showcase creative, effective, or artistic use of lighting.
Best Theme or Design: This category highlights displays built around a clear concept or story from “Winter Wonderland” to “Santa’s Workshop” and everything in between.
Community Favourite (public vote)
The first three categories will be judged by a panel, while “Community Favourite” will be decided by the people.
Prizes:
We’re keeping things local this year with prizes that support our amazing businesses. Winners will receive gift cards from Chestermere-area shops and restaurants, along with trophies and bragging rights.
Each category will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, with all first-place winners also receiving a custom trophy.
As more sponsors come on board, the total prize pool will continue to grow, so stay tuned for updates on the local businesses helping us make Chestermere shine
BONUS: every entrant will be entered into a random draw for a bonus local gift card, just for joining in the fun!

Want to help make it happen? Local businesses can come on board as sponsors (cash or prize-item donations welcome). Sponsors receive recognition on the Light the Lake webpage and interactive map, in Little Lake Locals promotions, and on entry and voting forms.
