Bring Your Neighbours Together with Chestermere's Free Block Party Kit
Summer is the perfect time to get outside, meet your neighbours, and build connections right on your own street. That's exactly what Chestermere's Block Party Program is designed to do.
Block parties bring neighbours together for an afternoon or evening of food, fun, conversation, and community spirit. Whether you're new to the neighbourhood or have lived there for years, a block party is a great way to strengthen existing friendships and meet the people who live just down the street.
Beyond helping neighbours connect, the City helps make planning easier with a free Block Party Kit. Organizers can receive paper plates, napkins, cutlery, cups, and, when available, a gift certificate to help with food purchases. Community Services may also be able to provide a barbecue (propane not included), along with children's games and toys, making it easy to create a fun, family-friendly event for residents of all ages.
Registered block parties also receive barricades and sandwich boards to help safely manage traffic during the event. The City takes care of the logistics, with barricades delivered by Public Works on Friday afternoon and picked up the following Monday.
Want to make your gathering even more memorable? Community Services can help connect organizers with local community leaders and organizations, including City Councillors, the Mayor, RCMP, Peace Officers, the Fire Department, and community sponsors. In some cases, emergency services personnel may be able to attend and offer hands-on activities or safety demonstrations for children.
To reserve a date and request a Block Party Kit, organizers must complete the online form and the required waiver forms. Your date is not confirmed until all paperwork has been received.
Block Party Kits are made possible through Community Services and generous community partners, including Eric's No Frills and Lake Ridge Community Church.
