Go Girl Event Brings Confidence and Wellness to Over 50 Local Girls

Go Girl 2026

Last week, more than 50 girls ages 8 to 14 gathered at the Calgary Yacht Club for this year’s Go Girl event, organized in partnership with Synergy, Calgary Yacht Club, and Little Lake Locals.

Held on May 15, the day brought plenty of sunshine and outdoor time as participants took part in a variety of activities focused on confidence, wellness, teamwork, and personal growth.

Throughout the event, girls learned sailing basics, including knot tying, participated in team-building activities, explored yoga, meditation, dance, healthy eating, and discussions around emotional eating. A special thank you goes to the Chestermere Fire Department for stopping by to lead team-building games and join the yoga and meditation sessions, although we suspect a few firefighters may have mistaken meditation for nap time.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Go Girl's financial sponsor, the Rotary Club of Chestermere, as well as Chestermere Women's Crisis Society, for helping purchase snacks and swag bag treats. Thanks also go to Mental Health Capacity Building for leading one of the workshops and providing snacks, and Dexterity Dance Studio for contributing swag bag items.

Additional thanks go to Harmony Health & Fitness for providing swag bag items, and to Mel Cornforth for leading the morning welcome session and teaching participants yoga, meditation, and the importance of being yourself.

We would also like to recognize the many volunteers who helped before, during, and after the event. From setup and coordination to cheering participants on throughout the day and helping clean up afterwards, their support played a huge role in making the event a success.
