Chestermere Workshop Teaches Caregivers Practical Hair Styling Skills

A new hands-on workshop in Chestermere is helping caregivers tackle one of parenting’s surprisingly tricky jobs: doing kids’ hair without turning the morning into a wrestling match.

Hosted by Chestermere Community Services, the upcoming “Connect & Belong” program will bring caregivers and children together for an evening of practical hair care tips, styling lessons, and a little confidence-building along the way.

Led by cosmetology hair styling students and facilitators, participants will learn basic techniques such as braiding, straightening, curling, brushing, and everyday hair care. The event is timed around Father’s Day and aims to create a welcoming space for dads and father figures to learn new skills, though all caregivers and loved ones are encouraged to attend.

The workshop runs June 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chestermere City Hall. Organizers note that both the caregiver and child must attend together.

This program is free, but registration is required through the City of Chestermere community program listings under “Connect & Belong.”
