What is playschool?
By the Chestermere Playschool
You might have seen us on Facebook or noticed our sign in the window at the Chestermere Rec Centre and wondered: what exactly is Playschool? We’re a play-based preschool for 3 to 5-year-olds. Basically, we’re preschool, but WAY more fun. Because that’s what being a kid is all about!
Our play-based curriculum has been expertly crafted by our two exceptionally qualified teachers and is designed to nurture all the skills and abilities your little one needs. This is the perfect way for children to transition into the next stage of their life- school! And more specifically, Kindergarten. It is a great way to get them used to interacting with others, provide an introduction to structured activities, and ultimately learn that school can be fun! What sets our program apart are the extras that make your little one’s preschool experience extra special.
One of the biggest extras our program has to offer is daily gym time. Our location in the Chestermere Rec Centre means we have access to big spaces to have big adventures and big fun! We’re fully equipped to play with lots of equipment like hula hoops, skipping ropes, balls, scooters, frisbees and a parachute. Kids have a daily opportunity to get moving and work out their wiggles. When the weather is nice, they get to have all that fun outdoors in the fresh air!
And those rinks at the Chestermere Rec Centre? We have fun there too! Our program includes six parented skating events that give our families a great chance to get to know the teachers and each other a little better, all while having fun on skates.
Another extra? All of our special guests. Special guests give our kids the opportunity to meet members of the community and experience a lot of new and interesting things. We have a wide variety of special guests every year that range from RCMP to bakers to writers or artists - even extra special guests around the holidays such as Santa. This year is far from over with many exciting guests still to come!
Even with all these extras, we still keep costs low as a parent-run, not-for-profit playschool and our families also save with the Affordability Grant and (based on income) further subsidies to reduce fees. One-on-one tours are available to meet the teachers and see our location. Visit our website for more information, and register now to secure your spot as we still have room available for the remainder of this year!
Registrations for the 2025/26 school year are now being accepted. The Chestermere Community Playschool is excited to participate in the new Affordability Grant and subsidy program, making quality, play-based preschool more accessible to all the families in Chestermere.
You may always find more information about our program, teachers, subsidies, and registration on our website.
