Community Mental Health Fair Coming to Chestermere This May

If your spring calendar is starting to fill up, here’s one event worth making room for.

The Community Mental Health Fair is happening on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Chestermere Recreation Centre (main hall), bringing together local organizations, youth voices, and two well-known Canadian athletes for a day focused on connection, resilience, and mental well-being.

This free, drop-in event is open to everyone. No registration needed.

Special Guest Speakers

The event will feature keynote talks from Jon Cornish and Jocelyn Peterman.

Jon Cornish is a former running back for the Calgary Stampeders and one of the most recognized names in Canadian football. Beyond his athletic career, he has become a strong advocate for mental health, speaking openly about the pressures of high performance and the importance of resilience off the field.

Jocelyn Peterman, a world champion curler and Olympic competitor, brings her own perspective on mental strength. Competing at an elite level requires focus, adaptability, and the ability to handle setbacks, something she’s experienced firsthand on the world stage.

Together, they’ll share real-life insights on overcoming challenges and what it takes to keep going when things get tough.

What to Expect

This isn’t your typical sit-and-listen event. The fair is designed to be interactive, welcoming, and practical.

Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Youth-led presentations that highlight real experiences and perspectives

  • An interactive trade fair with local mental health resources and supports

  • Engaging booths where you can connect, ask questions, and learn

  • Door prizes throughout the day (because who doesn’t love a good win)

  • Coffee and refreshments to keep things casual and comfortable

And if you’re an early bird, the first 100 attendees will receive swag bags.

Why It Matters

Events like this help take mental health out of the “serious and silent” category and bring it into everyday conversation. Whether you’re looking for resources, supporting someone else, or just curious, it’s a low-pressure way to get informed and feel a little more connected.
