Ready to trade flip-flops for figure skates? Registration is now open for the Ice Edge Skating Club’s PreStar Group and StarSkate programs! Whether your child is just beginning their figure skating journey or is training towards competition goals, our programs offer the right mix of skill development, challenge, and fun.

Programs at a Glance
Pre-CanSkate & CanSkate (Learn to Skate)
Ages 3+
Focus on fundamental skating skills for hockey, ringette, figure skating, or recreational skating
Teen & Adult Learn-to-Skate and Special Needs Learn-to-Skate classes also available
PreStar Group
Next step for young skaters moving into figure skating
Group lessons with no additional coaching fees
Class options:
Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm (Sept 9 – Mar 31)
Thursdays 4:30 – 5:15 pm (Sept 11 – Mar 26)
StarSkate
Designed for skaters looking to develop advanced figure skating skills (tests & competition prep)
Group lessons in dance, skills, freeskate, and stroking included
Additional private coaching available for choreography, test days, and competitions
Class options:
Mondays 4:00 – 5:30 pm
Tuesdays 4:00 – 5:30 pm
Wednesdays 4:00 – 5:30 pm
Fridays 3:45 – 5:15 pm
Sundays 1:30 – 3:00 pm
Dryland Training (Mandatory for PreStar & StarSkate)
Off-ice training to support strength, flexibility, jump/spin techniques, and injury prevention
Includes goal-setting workshops and nutrition education
Runs Sept 8 – Mar 31, with multiple session times each week
Extra Morning Ice Training (StarSkaters only)
Extra focus on edges, jumps, and spins
Wednesdays & Fridays, 6:30 – 7:30 am
Special Events (Free with Registration in 2+ Programs)
BootBreaker (PreStar & StarSkate)

Things to Know
New for 2025/26: StarSkate registration includes both ice time and coaching fees for group lessons
Additional private coaching fees are invoiced separately
Skate Canada annual membership: $61.65 (Sept 1 – Aug 31)
Chestermere Rec Centre annual membership required: $64 (individual) or $92.50 + GST (family)
Late registrations are pro-rated
Long-Term Athlete Development (Skate Canada Guidelines)
Ages 7–11: 2–4 days/week
Ages 9–13: 4–5 days/week, 1–2 sessions/day
Ages 10–16: 5 days/week, 2–3 sessions/day
