Grade 6 Student Encourages Residents to Help Clean Up Chestermere Lake

A local Grade 6 student is encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves and help keep Chestermere Lake clean.

As part of a school project focused on civic participation, Boston created a community cleanup challenge aimed at getting families, children, and residents involved in caring for the environment.

The initiative invites participants to pick up litter around Chestermere Lake between June 1 and June 21, then share a photo of their cleanup in the event's Facebook group for a chance to win prizes.

Boston says the goal is to show how small actions can make a positive difference in the community while helping protect local wildlife, parks, waterways, and public spaces.

The cleanup challenge has already received support from local businesses, with prize donations provided by A&W and Suck It Up Furnace Cleaning.

Residents are encouraged to participate whenever it fits their schedule during the three-week challenge. Whether it's a quick cleanup during a walk or a larger family effort, every bag of garbage collected helps keep Chestermere Lake clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
