Easy Fall Craft with the Chestermere Playschool

Gather some colourful leaves before the snow flies for this simple and creative fall activity.

By the Chestermere Playschool

This hands-on craft helps little ones explore shapes, colours, and textures while sparking curiosity about nature. Ask questions like: How does the leaf feel? What colours do you see? Does it make a sound when you touch it? Drawing the missing half of the leaf also helps build spatial awareness and fine motor skills.

Supplies:

  • A variety of leaves

  • Paper

  • Scissors

  • Tape or glue

  • Crayons in fall colours

Head outside to collect leaves from your yard or around the neighbourhood. Try to find as many shapes and colours as you can.

For younger kids, parents can cut the leaves in half. Older kids can do this step themselves for extra scissor practice.

To create the craft, tape or glue half of a leaf in the centre of a sheet of paper. Then use crayons to draw the missing half, matching the shape and details as closely as possible.

A perfect way to enjoy the season and bring a little nature indoors.
