Registration Opens for Winter 2026 Learn to Skate Programs in Chestermere

The Ice Edge Skating Club has begun registration for its Winter 2026 learn to skate programs, giving Chestermere families a chance to get their young skaters on the ice. The Skate Canada sanctioned PreCanSkate and CanSkate programs are designed for beginners and developing skaters, including those preparing for hockey and ringette.

PreCanSkate, for ages three to five, runs on Thursdays and Sundays at the Chestermere Rec Centre. Thursday classes run from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. from January 15 to March 19. Sunday sessions run between 3:15 and 4:45 p.m. from January 11 to March 22, with no classes on February 15. Each group receives ten 30-minute lessons.

CanSkate, for ages five and up, follows the same winter schedule. Thursday classes run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. from January 15 to March 19. Sunday groups run from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. between January 11 and March 22, depending on level, with no class on February 15. Programs include ten lessons ranging from forty five minutes to one hour.

Skaters must hold an active Skate Canada membership for the 2025 to 2026 season. The annual fee is expected to be $61.65 and includes insurance and national registration. A current Chestermere Regional Community Association membership is also required. Individual and family memberships are available, and each family member receives a unique number used during program registration.

Families registering after the session begins will receive pro-rated fees based on the remaining classes.
