Zoo Week: Easy Animal Crafts and Activities Kids Love
By the Chestermere Playschool
Discover why the Chestermere Playschool is a top choice for families seeking a Chestermere preschool with play-based learning and caring educators.
Let’s talk about Zoo Animals! There are so many ways to learn about animals; this is always a popular theme in our classroom. Here are a few of our favourite ideas!
Crafts
Take a look at this lion craft we did.
First, draw or print a lion’s face.
Next, have the kids use a fork to paint the hair or mane around the outside of the face. We encourage the kids to turn their paper to paint the full circle rather than switching hands with the fork. This helps build bilateral coordination.
Pretend play
It’s animal bath time! Fill the sink or a basin with warm, soapy water and add plastic animal toys. Give the kids sponges and even a toothbrush to scrub the animals. If you wanted to extend this activity, have them paint the animals first.
Movement time
YouTube has an unlimited supply of movement songs. Check out some of our favourites in the list below.
